Specimen Fishing Lake

The Specimen Lake is a favourite among our Carp anglers, offering a peaceful and productive fishing experience. This rectangular, two-and-a-half-acre lake maintains a consistent depth of six feet. Most of the Carp here weigh between 12lb – 25lb, and ledgering is the most effective fishing method. However, anglers should not overlook the margins, as carp are often seen patrolling the lake’s edges. If its a sunny day the Carp will almost definitely be in the upper layers so floating baits work well.

The eastern bank is tree-lined, providing cool shade in the early mornings, though it becomes a sun trap by midday as the sun moves around. The east and south ends of the lake are perfect for those seeking a bit more privacy while they fish. In addition to Carp, the lake is home to healthy stocks of Rudd, Roach, Tench, and Perch. A regular restocking program takes place during the winter months, ensuring the lake remains well-stocked and thriving throughout the year. A feeding program has recently (Spring 2025) been introduced to give the Carp all the protein and nutrients they need to keep them healthy. We feed the Carp on 12mm pellets which can also be purchased in the onsite tackle shop.
